Severe thunderstorms thrashed west-central, central, and north-central Wisconsin with damaging winds, large hail up to two inches in diameter, and torrential rain Sunday evening. The violent winds with speeds of at least 65 mph blew over many large trees southeast of Osceola (Polk County); in the Sand Creek, Wilson, Grant, and Otter Creek townships of Dunn County ($50 thousand damage to two barn roofs); in Lubin (Taylor County); in Thorp (Clark County); in Osseo, Whitehall and Blair, all in Trempealeau County (about $100 thousand damage to homes and other buildings); in Dexterville and Nekoosa (Wood County); in Amherst (Portage County); south of Wautoma (Waushara County); 10 miles north of Keshena; and in Holmen (La Crosse County). The powerful thunderstorm winds also blew down power lines at Linwood (Portage County) and Waupaca (Waupaca County).
