Wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph were common. Private anemometers in Putnam County measured gusts near 70 mph. A 235-foot radio tower was blown over on Tyler Mountain in Kanawha County. A greenhouse was damaged in Huntington. In Kenova, a chimney was toppled from a house. Two mobile homes were damaged in the Arnett to Glen Daniels region of Raleigh County. Roads were damaged by flooding in Jackson County. In the same region of Jackson County, mobile homes received minor damage from fallen tree branches. In Boone County, chainsaws were used to clear fallen trees from roads. The associated lightning caused widespread power outages. Out of state crews were required to aid local maintenance crews in repairing damage to power lines.
