A microburst, containing a measured gust of 90 mph at the Fairfax County Police heliport, blew down dozens of trees and caused structural damage to several homes and property in western Fairfax County A residential HAM radio tower was blown apart, some aluminum chimneys were blown down, and other homes suffered siding and roof damage. At the police heliport, large (30- by 50-foot) doors were blown off a hangar. Trees were also reported down in nearby Reston and at the intersection of federal highway 50 and Interstate 66 in Fairfax City.
