Thunderstorms moved across the southern half of the Texas panhandle producing hail up to golf ball-size. Two brief tornadoes occurred over open pasture land causing no damage. Strong outflow winds did damage some pivot sprinklers, a grain elevator, some outbuildings, and snapped a couple of power poles west of Lazbuddie. In Hart the winds damaged a couple of buildings. The golf ball-size hail east of Happy occurred on the Randall/Swisher County line.

Severe thunderstorms produced large hail, flash flooding and 2 tornados. The first tornado was reported 5 miles southwest of Burkburnett in Wichita County, and the second was 3 miles west of Burkburnett. The second tornado touched down 6 minutes after the first began, and both tornados lifted at the same time. No damage was reported, and both were rated as F0. Significant damage occurred in Vernon with straight-line winds along a strong gust front. Numerous fences and trees as large as 4-feet in diameter and fences were downed (3 fell onto houses), 8 homes received major roof damage, and 4 storage buildings were destroyed. In addition, 2 businesses were damaged: parts of the roof were blown off a boot store, and a second store received major air conditioner and roof damage. Other reports included nickel sized hail in Vernon in Wilbarger County and water covering Highway 183 north of Vernon in Wilbarger County.

Sixty mph wind and downed trees reported by co-op observer. Severe weather was widespread during the afternoon and evening of the 26th. The first storms (west of the Pecos River) were in cells, where some tornadoes were reported. As the organized convection moved eastward a line of severe thunderstorms formed. Strong downbursting winds and winds from bow echoes caused scattered damage up and down the line of storms. The farther the storms progressed eastward hail reports decreased but more strong winds and wind damage reports were received.
