Severe thunderstorm winds caused damage in parts of El Paso. A roof was partially ripped off a two-story building; the flying debris damaged two nearby cars. Several street light poles were knocked down along a main street. Trees and some power poles were downed in several parts of the city. Heavy rains caused some flash flooding, especially in the southeast part of El Paso where water was reportedly up to windshield level on some cars.

A very active severe weather day. Lots of hail reports in the golf ball-size with the largest reports being baseball-size in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Only minor damage to travel trailers reported there. High winds blew down five pairs of double power poles and four homes under construction in the southwest part of Amarillo. Estimated repair cost to SPS for the power poles exceeded $20K while the loss to the four homes were estimated at $100 to 120K. Damage to mobile homes and broken windows due to the wind/hail was considerable with best estimate close to $300K. Skywarn spotters, sheriff offices, DPS and many others helped greatly with real time spotting reports during this event.

Thunderstorms in the western part of North Texas during the evening hours on the 24th produced damaging winds and hail up to golf ball-size. Thunderstorm winds blew a trailer across a road and downed tree limbs 15 miles west of Crowell, blew roofs off of houses and downed tree limbs 10 miles south of Crowell and near Truscott, downed signs in Wichita Falls, tore the roof off an out building on the south side of Electra and downed tree limbs 2.5 miles west-southwest of Dean.
