Scattered thunderstorms developed during the late evening and early morning hours over northeast Iowa. One of the cells became severe and dropped three-quarter inch diameter hail on the town of Wellsburg.
A cold front moved southeast across Iowa during the day. For the most part it passed through the state with little more than a shift in the wind direction. Strong thunderstorms erupted ahead of the cold front over the far east-central counties. Funnel clouds were reported in the Quad-Cities area. One brief tornado touchdown occurred in Scott County. No significant damage was reported with this tornado.
