The 911 call center reported fallen trees obstructing PR-165, close to the entrance of Plaza Aquarium. A utility pole was over the road. A family was trapped in their car during this incident.

A report in the newspaper indicated that a 62-year-old male was swept away by flooding rain at La Virgencita, Toa Baja. The male was swept away from inside his car and the body was recovered three days later.

Northwest winds were sustained at 20 to 30 mph with gusts generally 35 to 45 mph. However...some gusts were in excess of 50 mph. The winds occurred from the early morning hours of the 24th into the afternoon. The winds toppled trees and snapped branches at scattered locations...with the most significant impacts across mostly eastern portions of the Saint John Valley including Fort Kent and Madawaska. The falling trees and snapped branches brought down power lines contributing to power outages.

What this means

A best track is the record a warning agency settles on after the storm, not what it said at the time: position, maximum sustained wind and central pressure every six hours, revised against every observation that came in later. Category is the Saffir-Simpson scale, which runs from Category 1 at 64 kt to Category 5 at 137 kt and reads wind only, so it says nothing about surge or rain. Accumulated cyclone energy adds up the square of the wind through the storm's life, so it counts strength and duration together.
