A long, continuous path of damage was found in western Polk County from a tornado, causing extensive EF-2 damage. An NWS survey and subsequent Civil Air Patrol aerial survey found numerous homes and businesses with damage to roofs, fascia, awnings, and screen enclosures, as well as fences and trees knocked down. One home was completely destroyed. Kathleen Middle School sustained significant roof damage, with rain water and sprinkler systems causing additional water damage. A camper was lifted into a residence near the middle school. The tornado crossed Interstate 4, overturning a tractor trailer. No injuries were reported.

A maximum water level of 3.68 ft above Mean Higher High Water was observed at the Spring Creek gauge along the Wakulla county coast in association with Tropical Storm Nestor. Several roads were inundated with surge. Several business in St Marks had some inundation with the Riverside Cafe reporting 1 foot of water in the structure. Inundation occurred one-half mile up Port Leon Drive from the intersection with Riverside Drive. Bottoms Road in Panacea flooded. Mashes Sand Road was flooded beyond Blue Crab Lane. The roundabout in Spring Creek flooded.

A National Weather Service survey determined an EF0 tornado with maximum wind speeds of 75 mph and a maximum path width of 100 yards touched down between Market Avenue and Highway 41, toppling and overturning a shed off of blocks and lifting part of a metal roof off an industrial building. The tornado traveled north across Market Avenue, Seedling Drive and Drayton Lane to Highway 41 north of Steele Road, downing a few trees along the way. The tornado then turned northeast across Highway 41 and then Farmers Market Road downing several more trees before lifting near a pond west of Slim Road and south of Murray Road. The emergency manager reported standing water and flooding over several of roadways in the southern and eastern portions of Dooly county. Radar estimates indicate that 4 to 6 inches of rainfall accumulated quickly over the area, with isolated amounts of up to 8 inches.

What this means

A best track is the record a warning agency settles on after the storm, not what it said at the time: position, maximum sustained wind and central pressure every six hours, revised against every observation that came in later. Category is the Saffir-Simpson scale, which runs from Category 1 at 64 kt to Category 5 at 137 kt and reads wind only, so it says nothing about surge or rain. Accumulated cyclone energy adds up the square of the wind through the storm's life, so it counts strength and duration together.
