An earthquake of 5.6 M at a depth of 9 km occurred in central north-western Gansu Province in central China, on 25 September at 21.49 UTC (26 September at 4.49 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 19 km north-west of Hualin city, and struck Longxi County in Dingxi City of central China. At least one aftershock of 4.8 M was recorded in the same area. According to media, as of 27 September, 11 people have been injured, 7,812 people have been displaced, and 4,328 houses have been damaged in Longxi and Zhangxian counties of Dingxi City. Several rockfalls and blocked roads have been recorded in the area, and three railway lines have been suspended. The earthquake was felt in Zhangxian, Weiyuan, Lintao in Dingxi, and Wushan counties.
