A shellfish diver died while performing clam extraction work in the town of Carelmapu, in the commune of Maullin, during the earthquake that occurred in the south central area of the country. The 24-year-old, identified as Pablo Huenante Maldonado, was found inside a boat. According to Sago radio, the deputy commissioner of the PDI Homicide Brigade, Paula Orellana, presumed that as a result of the quake, the victim suffered a decompression, which would have caused death.
