Two (2) moderate-sized earthquakes with Magnitude 5.4 and 5.9 occurred on 27 July 2019 , 4:16 AM and 7:37 AM respectively , with epicenters located northeast of ltbayat , Batanes at shallow focal depths . These were felt at varying intensities in the province of Batanes. A total of nine (9) dead and sixty-four (64) injured persons were reported in ltbayat, Batanes. A total of 266 damaged houses (81 - partially, 185 totally) were reported due to the earthquake in ltbayat, Batanes. A total of two (2) schools, two (2) health facilities, and ten (10) road sections were reported to have sustained damages due to series of earthquakes. A total of P47,000,000.00 worth of damages were reported following the series of earthquakes. (reference #12468)
