A total of 28 structures were impacted in the city of Tovar, in Merida State, following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake that shook the population early Tuesday, April 3. Among the material damages, Civil Protection (PC) accounted for 15 homes with cracks or detachment of frieze in the sectors El Corozo, Sabaneta, Santa Elena, Los Higuerones, Vista Alegre, Alberto Carnevalli, Monsenor Moreno, Rómulo Gallegos, El Anil, Los Limones , and on Tachira Avenue, 8 educational buildings with cracks in walls and columns, San José de Tovar hospital and the University of Los Andes (ULA).
The Civil Protection team together with Merida Firefighters, also are evaluating structural damage to the church Nuestra Señora de Regla since they received information that it suffered damages from the earthquake. (reference #12097)
