April 5, 1965, 03:12:54.2 UTC, 37.7 N, 21.8 E, Southern Greece, magnitude 6, depth 34 km. Central Peloponnesus sustained 32 deaths, 200 injuries, and major property damage. Many villages were extensively damaged. (reference #45)

April 5,1965, 03:12:54 UTC, 37.7 N, 21.8 E, magnitude 6.2, depth 34 km. Destructive earthquake in the central Peloponnese,

in the mountainous region west of Megalopolis;

1,900 houses destroyed, 3,834 made uninhabitable,

6,256 badly damaged; 18 persons killed, 155 injured;

emotion was all the greater as the earthquake of

5 April was the fourth destructive shock in Greece

since 9 March. The following intensities were recorded:

X in Arkadia at Apiditsa, Khoremi, Kiparissia,

Kalivia and Karyon; in Ilia at Krounoe; in Messinia

at Staximon; IX in Arkadia at Troknis and

Marathousa, in Ilia at Makrisia, in Messinia at

Oechalia; macroseismic area: 530,000 square kilometres;

the shock was felt as far away as Crete.
