1926, June 28, 03:23:25 UTC, 1.5 S, 99.5 E, magnitude 6.75. There was a strong earthquake in the region of Sinkarak Lake (Sumatra Island). The south coast of the lake collapsed in places and tidal waves arose. They reached the north shore in about 10 minutes.

1926, June 28. Epic.: 0.7 S, 100.6 E. Intensity VIII to IX. Destructive around the lake Singkarak ; Sidjundjung. Muarabungo and Alahan Pandjang suffered damage. The quake was followed by a train of aftershocks. These tremors were generally felt intensively over West Sumatra and in particular at Padang Pandjang. A part of the lake Singkarak subsided and many people were injured.

To quote Science Service: "The Sumatra earthquake was reported only by Georgetown. The distance agreed with the position of the island of Sumatra."
