November 1, 1842, between 8 and 9 a.m. Montreal, La Cine, Trois-Rivieres, and other places in Canada. Terrible shocks. The waters of the St Lawrence were violently agitated. Accompanied by explosions like salvos of artillery. (reference #1879)
