Reference #1532 lists an event on 1698 July 19. The summit of Carguayrazo [volcano] largely collapsed during the night. This horrific disaster was accompanied by an earthquake which, in the neighboring towns of Ambato and Latacunga, engulfed thousands of inhabitants.
Reference #1680 suggests the event on 19/20 June 1698 is listed by some as 19 July. As a result, this event may be a duplicate of 19/20 June 1698.
