1682 March 19. In Oaxaca, it is reported that buildings and houses in many towns and villages suffered significantly from the effects of the earthquake .Interpretation by the Instituto de Geofisica: Damage is reported in a wide region. Although there are no explicit reports of damage, it is reported as 'violent' in the Costa Chica and 'of lesser intensity' in the Costa Grande. Reports suggest a coastal earthquake of magnitude probably greater than 7.0 in the Costa Chica of Guerrero. (reference #13024)
