...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI AND OAHU TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST AND SOUTHEAST FACING SHORES OF MOLOKAI MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY... .Hurricane Nolo inches north toward the Big Island then turns west while remaining well south of the Hawaiian Islands. Nolo is producing a moderate swell that is causing building surf along east and southeast facing shores of the Big Island, Maui, and Molokai. Strengthening trades then cause building surf along east facing shorelines beginning tonight and continuing through Sunday. * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet today, increasing to 10 to 14 feet Saturday. * WHERE...East and southeast facing shores of Big Island Maui and Molokai. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Moderate to High. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous.
