.KEY MESSAGES...

* Breezy north winds along the lower Colorado River Valley today
  will increase wave heights on Lake Mohave.

* Temperatures cool further and gusty winds return mid-to-late week
  as a weather system pushes through the region.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Monday.

A weak shortwave moving through the area continues to bring breezy
to windy conditions to much of the area today. Windier conditions
are occurring in the Colorado River Valley where a Lake Wind
Advisory remains in effect through this afternoon. These winds
will diminish this evening as the shortwave moves off to the east.
While we are experiencing slightly cooler temperatures and the
shortwave moves through, it remains 5-10 degrees above normal.

A stronger weather system will move down the California Coast
week Wednesday into Thursday, bringing cooler temperatures and
strong, gusty winds. This system will approach our forecast area
on Wednesday, dig into southern Nevada on Thursday and Friday, and
then meander southwestward toward Baja California. This system is
trending stronger, with gusty winds now expected to persist
through Saturday. Expect breezy west-southwesterly pre-frontal
winds on Wednesday, and much cooler temperatures along with gusty
north-northwesterly post-frontal winds Thursday through Saturday.

We will continue to watch this system to determine the need for
wind products as the details become more clear. The best lift
associated with this system will exist across northeastern Lincoln
County on Thursday, where there is a 40-60 percent chance of
precipitation. That said, moisture will be very limited (PWATs
between 0.10 and 0.25 inches), but cannot rule out a few hundreths
of measurable rainfall or an isolated lightning strike,
particularly in the higher elevations of Lincoln County. Ridging
will increase temperatures late-weekend into the start of next
week.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds
will become light and variable overnight and will remain light
and variable through the morning and into the afternoon.
Southwesterly winds will pick up during the afternoon with 15 to
20 knot wind gusts expected through the afternoon and into the
evening hours. At some point during the late evening/ overnight
hours, winds will swing around to the northwest as a front moves
through the valley. FEW to BKN mid-to-high clouds AOA
15 kft will sweep through southern Nevada out ahead of the
front.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds across the area
will remain light overnight and will tend to favor typical, daily
directional trends into the morning hours. Southwesterly-to-
westerly winds will pick up across the Mojave Desert through
southern Nevada and into northwestern Arizona tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile in Inyo County and the southern Great Basin,
northwesterly-to-northerly winds will pick up during the afternoon
as a front moves through. This front will continue to work its
way through the region from northwest to southeast, bringing
gusty north winds into southern Nevada by late Wednesday evening.
FEW to BKN mid-to-high clouds AOA 10 kft will sweep through the
region out ahead of the front with skies clearing behind it.
