.KEY MESSAGES...

* Dangerous heat will continue today, with widespread Moderate to
  Major HeatRisk driven by well above normal temperatures and
  increased humidity.

* Daily afternoon to evening isolated thunderstorm chances will
  continue through the week, with the greatest chances over higher
  terrain and some storms spreading into adjacent valleys. Storm
  chances will increase in the mid week.

* The high pressure pushes east leading to cooling temperatures
  through the week.

.DISCUSSION...Today through next weekend.

Today is expected to be the last day of Extreme Heat as the high
pressure responsible for the excessive temperatures shifts east.
Expect temperatures to peak above 100 degrees in the Owens Valley,
near 110 degrees for most of the Mojave Desert, and a few localized
areas reaching 115 around the hottest portions of the region. The
Extreme Heat Warning lasts through this evening. The one caveat is
the cloud cover over Clark and northern Mohave counties associated
with two separate MCVs that were generated over southern Arizona
last night. This may help to keep temperatures down a bit across
those areas.

Even though the high shifts east, we will continue to see plenty of
monsoonal moisture over the region for much of the the week. The
aforementioned MCVs are both rotating northward across Clark and
northern Mohave counties with storms forming along the northern and
western edges. This trend is expected to continue through the
afternoon as these MCVs move north. Storms may be more delayed in
the wake of these MCVs due to more subsidence, but with enough
afternoon heating we may up seeing storms develop later this
afternoon. A weak, cut off low will also help to push additional
moisture into the area Tuesday and Wednesday leading to good chances
for isolated to scattered storms each afternoon and evening through
the late week. Another pattern change will reduce storm chances into
the weekend, but doesn't completely erase storms from the late-term
forecast with storms mainly confined to the eastern half of the CWA
by the weekend.

The mid-week moisture push and the exiting high pressure will lead
to widespread cooling. Heat risk will reduce through the week as
temperatures begin to reduce closer to average for this time of
year. Lows look to fall into the 70s and 80s while highs reduce
into the 90s to lower 100s.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...
South to southwest winds will prevail late afternoon and evening,
but some variability will occur due to thunderstorms in the area.
Thunderstorms will persist into this evening before diminishing
overnight. Outside of any thunderstorm influence, winds will
generally remain less than 10 knots. The probability of
thunderstorms within the Las Vegas Valley is generally around 20
percent, but confidence is too low to include in the TAF.
Temperatures will exceed 100 degrees through 05Z.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Isolated showers and
thunderstorms into this evening with locally heavy rain and gusty
and erratic outflow winds. Storms are expected to dissipate by 04Z
with SCT clouds around 10-12kft. Outside of any thunderstorm wind
impacts, winds will generally remain less than 10 knots.
