.KEY MESSAGES...

* Gusty southwest winds and increased fire danger expected through
  mid-week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...through Saturday.

The upper level trough responsible for yesterday's winds will drift
east today, limiting the strongest winds and greatest fire weather
concerns to northwestern Arizona. However, a shortwave will swing
through the region on Monday and Tuesday, bringing an increase in
winds and potential for additional critical fire weather conditions
at that time. See the FIRE WEATHER section below for more details.
The increase in southerly to southwesterly winds gives a 60 to 80
percent chance of sustained winds reaching 25 mph on Lake Mead and
Lake Mohave. Gusts up to 35 mph may also produce waves in excess of
3 feet. Therefore, issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Monday afternoon.
Cannot rule out additional boating impacts on Tuesday, but
confidence in spatial extent of impactful winds is low at this time.
Heights rise aloft as the trough moves east mid to late week and
temperatures increase in response. Highs will be 5 to 10 degrees
above normal by Friday.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast
Package...Breezy southwest winds will persist into the evening
with gusts 25-30 knots at times. Winds will decrease overnight,
generally below 15 knots. Southwest winds will increase again
early Monday morning with 20-30 knot gusts returning. High
temperatures to hover right around 100 degrees this afternoon and
again tomorrow.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest
Arizona and southeast California...For the 18Z Forecast
Package...Breezy south to southwest winds will persist at most
terminals with gusts of 20-30 knots through early evening. Winds
will decrease slightly overnight before picking back up after
sunrise on Monday. A few mid and high clouds can be expected
through the day. Across the Owens Valley, including KBIH, winds
will remain somewhat variable, becoming south up to 10 knots this
afternoon, then shifting back to the north/northwest this evening
and overnight.

.FIRE WEATHER...Southerly to southwesterly winds gusting up to 40
mph combined with minimum RH values between 5 and 15 percent and dry
fuels will bring critical fire weather conditions to northwest
Arizona and parts of southern Nevada today. A Red Flag Warning
remains in effect for northwestern Arizona and the Nevada side of
the Colorado River Valley through this evening. Elevated to
critical fire weather conditions return to much of southern Nevada
and northwestern Arizona on Monday and Tuesday as winds increase
again. A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for all northwestern
Arizona zones and most southern Nevada zones on Monday and
Tuesday.
