* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 151 and 152.

* TIMING...From 11 AM this morning to 7 PM MST this evening.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the 
  potential to spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or are expected to develop. A
combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and dry
vegetation will create the potential for rapid and erratic fire
growth.

Breezy winds will continue across southeast Arizona for the next 
couple of hours. However, relative humidity values have risen 
above critical levels, with most locations reporting relative 
humidity values between 15 and 20 percent. Therefore, the Red 
Flag Warning has been allowed to expire.

.SYNOPSIS...Warm and dry across Southeast Arizona with periods
of high clouds through Saturday. Breezy conditions each
afternoon will result in elevated to near critical fire
conditions east of Tucson into the weekend. A weak weather
disturbance moving into Southeast Arizona will bring strong and
gusty westerly winds capable of producing areas of blowing dust
both Saturday and Sunday, along with a slight chance of light
showers north of Tucson Saturday night into Sunday.

.DISCUSSION...Main weather concern through Sunday will be
elevated fire weather conditions due to breezy afternoons as
shortwaves pass by to our north. The gusty afternoons this
weekend are associated with 700 mb winds in the 35-45 kt range.
The shortwave on Sunday may bring a slight chance of light
showers north of Safford in the morning with a few flurries
possible in the White mountains above 8500 feet. High today and
tomorrow right around normal, then 2 to 10 degrees below normal
on Sunday.

Early next week it looks like southeast Arizona will get a brief
break from the breezy winds before ensembles bring another
Pacific low through the region by the middle of the week. Still
uncertainty with the exact day this low moves through, but
expect more breezy winds Wednesday and Thursday. Moisture may
also move in ahead of the low which could lead to a chance for
showers and thunderstorms starting Wednesday. NBM PoPs have
increased compared to 24 hours ago and are now 20-45 percent
from central Pima County eastward.

Days 4 to 7 (Monday April 27 to Thursday April 30)
High temperatures rebound to near normal by Tuesday. The next
shot of precipitation (10-30%) for the area will be Wednesday
and Thursday as a southern stream system moves into the desert
southwest. Plenty of uncertainty in the ensemble world on the
timing/track/depth/moisture associated with this next system.
No issues with the forecast provided by the Weather Prediction
Center for this period.

.FIRE WEATHER...Warm and dry across Southeast Arizona with
periods of high clouds through Saturday. Breezy conditions each
afternoon will result in elevated fire conditions east of Tucson
into the weekend. Minimum RHs will generally be in the 10-20
percent range through Saturday, then increase to 20-30 percent
in the valleys and 25-35 percent in mountains Sunday with the
weather disturbance moving into the area.

A weak weather disturbance moving into Southeast Arizona will
bring strong and gusty westerly winds capable of producing areas
of blowing dust both Saturday and Sunday, along with a slim
chance of mainly dry storms north of Tucson Saturday night into
Sunday. Saturday 20-foot winds will be 20-25 mph with gusts up
to 40 mph leading to the possibility that some areas from
central Pima County eastward could see critical fire weather
conditions. However there is some uncertainty because of
moisture moving in and cloud cover which could keep RH values
above 15 percent. Winds will still be strong Sunday east of
Tucson, but with RH values increasing the threat for critical
fire weather conditions is greatly reduced.
