.KEY MESSAGES...
- Snow from today's cold front will linger into the evening before
diminishing.
- The next storm system will bring valley and mountain snow late
Thursday through Friday, primarily to central and southern Utah,
with some minor accumulations for northern Utah.
- High pressure will bring dry and increasingly mild conditions
this weekend into early next week.

.DISCUSSION...The storm system that brought a strong cold front
over much of Utah today is moving into Colorado this afternoon,
with that associated boundary over eastern Utah. Snow continues to
linger over much of the forecast area, but rates have gone down
noticeably from the peak. Valley snow is expected to taper off by
early evening, with mountain snow lingering into the remainder of
the evening. In the much colder airmass, lows will be below
freezing across the entirety of the area, with temperatures
getting cold enough to impact unsheltered and other sensitive
populations along the Wasatch Front.
Any break in the action will be relatively short lived with
another storm system on track to make its way into the Great Basin
during the day Thursday. As it tracks across southern Utah
Thursday night into Friday, it will bring another round of snow
for primarily the southern half of the forecast area. Confidence
is increasing in travel difficulties for the mountains of southern
Utah with the system, something those with travel plans in that
area should keep in mind. There remains the potential for minor
snow accumulations across northern portions of the area down to
valley floors, though associated travel impacts would be much more
limited.
Behind the exiting storm system, high pressure is expected to move
in for the weekend, bringing dry conditions and warming
temperatures. By Sunday, maxes are expected to run around 5F above
seasonal normals, and up to 10F above climo for Monday. There is
some indication that weak systems moving over the top of the ridge
will limit the warming trend thereafter, with a chance of some
valley rain and mountain snow as well.

.AVIATION...KSLC...MVFR to LIFR conditions due to lingering showery
precipitation will likely persist until 01-03z. After showers end,
CIGs will remain hovering at or just below 6kft agl and mountain
obscuration will continue into late evening. Northerly winds are
expected to persist beyond the typical diurnal shift, becoming
southerly around 05z.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Lingering precipitation
and gusty winds are expected to taper off this evening, with a
gradual return to VFR conditions at most terminals. There is a 60%
chance of fog at LGU in the morning hours.
