...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE MONROE CANYON BURN SCAR REMAINS IN 
EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHERN PIUTE AND SOUTH 
CENTRAL SEVIER COUNTIES...

At 655 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain over the Monroe Canyon Burn Scar. Between 0.4 and 0.65 inches 
of rain have fallen in the Monroe Canyon and Dry Canyon drainages. 
Flash flooding is ongoing.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow 
moving through Monroe Canyon and Dry Canyon. The debris flow can 
consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding in and around the Monroe Canyon Burn
         Scar, especially within Monroe Canyon.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around
         the Monroe Canyon Burn Scar.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Monroe Canyon and Dry Canyon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause 
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and 
ditches in the Monroe Canyon Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also 
be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away 
in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety.

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become 
unstable and unsafe.

.KEY MESSAGES, Issued 1056 PM MDT Sat Jul 25 2026...

- Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected across northeast
  Utah as well as a portion of central Utah on Tuesday as moisture
  temporarily decreases. Moisture will increase again on
  Wednesday, bringing an increased threat of flash flooding across
  central and southern Utah, before decreasing substantially from
  Thursday onward.

- Significant heat temporarily and marginally subsides on Tuesday
  and Wednesday before increasing in intensity once again by
  Thursday forward. High temperatures will only moderate to the
  upper-90s on the Wasatch Front and mid-100s in the lowest
  elevations of southern Utah before increasing by upwards of 5-7
  degrees over the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...Moisture remains in place over much of the forecast
area today, allowing for another day of scattered showers and
thunderstorms across central and southern Utah with more isolated
coverage across northern Utah. As of 150PM, shower and
thunderstorm activity is already well underway for central central
Utah, as well as a portion of northern Utah. This activity is
expected to continue through the remainder of the heating hours
across the region. That said, it will be difficult for storms to
sustain themselves as they drift off terrain features due to a
lack of upper level support.

An area of drier air is expected to work its way into the forecast
area tomorrow which will act to decrease the overall potential for
convection during the heating hours. As such, coverage of showers
and thunderstorms are expected to be much more isolated on Tuesday
afternoon, particularly limited to the high terrain in
northeastern and a portion of central Utah. Due to decreasing PWAT
values and lack of lower level moisture, the overall threat for
heavy rainfall and flash flooding will be quite low, but not
impossible, tomorrow afternoon. Moisture is anticipated to surge
northward once again on Wednesday, bringing one more round of
scattered showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy
rainfall and flash flooding across the eastern half of Utah.

From Thursday forward, the area of high pressure (the center of
which is currently just east of the Four Corners region) will
shift south and west while an offshore trough remains parked over
the PacNW region, helping to introduce a drier air mass into the
region. As such, any chance for showers and thunderstorms will be
greatly reduced as we finally rid the forecast area of monsoonal
moisture. Contrarily, we'll begin to see some of the driest
conditions since the monsoonal moisture arrived over the area in
mid-July as afternoon humidity falls back into the single-digits
for many low lying areas. Pairing with the very dry conditions,
afternoon high temperatures are expected to rise back into the
low- to mid-100s on the Wasatch Front, with lower Washington
county potentially rising into the low-110s. Overnight low
temperatures are also expected to remain elevated during this time
which will limit the amount of relief from the daytime heat. Risk
for heat related illness is likely to increase again through this
period (Thursday through Sunday).

.AVIATION...

KSLC...The SLC terminal will see VFR conditions through the evening
with cigs remaining well above 6000 ft AGL. Southerly winds are
expected to shift to the northwest between 20Z and 22Z. There is a
30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the vicinity of
the terminal this evening, with the most likely time between 02Z and
04Z. Any storms that develop would have the potential to bring gusty
and erratic winds as well as a low chance of lightning.

REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...The airspace will see
prevailing VFR conditions through the evening with generally light
and terrain driven winds. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are
again expected to develop this afternoon, initially focused over the
higher terrain over central and southern Utah, with these storms
drifting into northern Utah and southwest Wyoming during the
evening. Any storms that develop will have the potential to produce
gusty and erratic winds, lightning, and brief mountain obscurations.

.FIRE WEATHER...Moisture will remain in place over the eastern half of Utah
today while the western half of the area will remain largely dry
as the area battles between drier and wetter air masses. Another day of
scattered showers and thunderstorms will be the result over the high
terrain features today across central and southern Utah, with more isolated
coverage expected across northern Utah. A temporary drying of the lower
level environment is expected on Tuesday, greatly reducing the coverage of
showers and thunderstorms and allowing for relative humidity to begin
its downward trend through the remainder of the week. That said, moisture
is expected to make one last push through the area on Wednesday, bringing
an increase in shower and thunderstorm coverage across the eastern half
of the area while the western half remains dry. Thereafter, a significant
area wide drying is expected alongside rebuilding of heat as an area
of high pressure shifts to the west. As such, anticipate temperatures
increasing Thursday forward across the area as well as humidity falling
back into the single-digits to low-teens late in the week and through
the upcoming weekend.
