.SYNOPSIS...
Onshore flow will strengthen through Wednesday with stronger and
gusty southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts each
afternoon and evening. Wind gusts to 35 to 45 mph into Tuesday
evening, and to 45 to 55 mph for late Tuesday night into
Wednesday are likely. Onshore flow will also spread cooling
farther inland through Wednesday, with high temperatures on
Wednesday and Thursday within a few degrees of average. There is a
chance of light showers late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
Friday through next weekend will be warmer and drier with high
temperatures warming to 10 to 15 degrees above average for inland
areas next Sunday.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

This morning...The marine layer is about 1500 ft deep and there
was locally dense fog on portions of the coastal mesas. Low clouds
and fog had extended about 10 miles inland earlier this morning
but is now clearing and will likely clear to the beaches by noon
but could linger there into this afternoon. High temperatures
today will likely be noticeably lower than yesterday especially
west of the mountains in those areas influenced by the marine
layer.

From previous discussion...
A low pressure system moving across the eastern Pacific will move
inland through southern California late Tuesday. Onshore flow
will strengthen into Wednesday. Southwest to west winds will be
strongest for the mountains and deserts during the afternoons and
evenings with gusts 35 to 45 mph for today and Tuesday, and gusts
to 45 to 55 mph for late Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Cooling will spread inland through Wednesday, with Wednesday high
temperatures falling to within a few degrees of average, ranging
from the upper 60s to around 70 near the coast to the lower to mid
70s for the valleys and inland Orange County with the lower
deserts in the 80s.

There is a chance of light showers for late Tuesday into
Wednesday morning for Orange and southwestern San Bernardino
Counties from the coast to the mountains with a slight chance for
San Diego County and western Riverside County from the mountains
westward. For the San Bernardino County mountains, one-tenth inch
or less to locally one-qaurter inch is possible. Elsewhere from
the coast to the mountains, a few hundredths of an inch or less is
expected. The snow level will be mostly above 8000 to 8500 feet
through Tuesday night, lowering to around 7500 feet Wednesday
morning.

Friday through Monday... There will be drying with warming for
Friday through next weekend. High temperatures will warm to 10 to
15 degrees above average for inland areas next Sunday. High
temperatures for next Sunday will range from the lower to mid 70s
near the coast to the mid to upper 80s for the Inland Empire with
the lower deserts in the 90s.

.AVIATION...
301730Z...Low clouds near 1000-1500 ft MSL will slowly clear coastal
areas 18-20Z, though some low clouds may stick around within 5 miles
of the coastline the entire afternoon with moderate confidence on
coverage. Low clouds will push much further inland tonight after 00Z
Tue, reaching parts of the Inland Empire after 06Z Tue. Bases will
be higher around 800-1200 feet MSL with vis reductions for higher
inland terrain.

Above and beyond the marine layer, VFR conditions will prevail today
and tonight. High clouds will increase and lower to about 150000
feet MSL tonight into Tuesday.
