.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...

As a disturbance passes through the flow aloft, a cold front will
make its way onto the plains this evening and into the overnight
hours. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected just ahead
of and along the boundary as it moves through, which could
temporarily result in a few stronger to severe storms. Main impact
concerns will be gusty outflow winds and briefly heavy rainfall.

For tomorrow, a much cooler airmass will be in place, with highs
only expected to reach into the 80s over most of our CWA. Meanwhile,
post-frontal upsloping winds over the plains, coupled with some
stronger forcing aloft as a shortwave moves through, will allow for
a better chance at precipitation over portions of the area. Best
chance for showers and storms will be where the upslope is focused,
so mainly the southeast mountains and the Pikes Peak Region. Gusty
outflow winds are a given, and with the largely scattered nature of
expected storms, pockets of heavy rainfall will be possible as well.
Will need to closely monitor the Aspen Acres burn scar for any
storms that form overhead.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...

Temperatures will warm a bit on Wednesday, hovering around seasonal
averages. Meanwhile, some upsloping into the southeast mountains
will continue, helping keep a bit of moisture in our region.
However, the majority of the large-scale forcing will move south and
east of our CWA, taking a good amount of our precip chances with it.
For Wednesday afternoon, isolated showers and thunderstorms will be
possible over the southeast mountains, while some scattered showers
will be possible over the Pikes Peak area, Raton Mesa/southern
Sangres, and portions of the eastern San Juans. Otherwise, the rest
of our area will remain mostly dry.

Looking towards the end of the week, high pressure begins to build
in across the region once more. Hotter and drier conditions will
resume dominating SE Colorado, with highs back in the 90s. While a
few isolated afternoon showers will be possible, the area will also
largely remain dry. This trend looks to persist into this weekend,
with temps over the plains climbing back into the triple digits.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z TUESDAY/...

VFR conditions are expected at KALS, KCOS, and KPUB through 24
hours.

For KALS, breezy west winds this afternoon, and lighter winds
overnight tonight.

For KCOS and KPUB, a front will move in shortly after 02Z, bringing
north to northeast winds gusting over 30 knots. Gusty winds and mid-
level clouds will last into Tuesday.

At all terminals, isolated showers are possible later this
afternoon, mainly between 20Z and 02Z. Little to no rain is
expected, but if showers do form outflow winds to 40 knots or so
will be possible. Given isolated coverage, left as PROB30 group in
all TAFs for now.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

It will be very hot today. Temperatures over most of the plains will
be in the 100 to 108 range. Mid to upper 90s will occur over the
lower elevations of EL paso county. 90s will occur across all of the
San Luis Valley. A few isolated showers will be possible this
afternoon as well, bringing lightning and gusty outflow to 50 mph to
the southeast mountains and adjacent plains.

A cool front will move across the region later this evening. It will
become breezy to windy across the plains tonight, and scattered
showers and thunderstorms will be possible for a few hours. Winds
could gusts as high as 50 mph, with outflow from passing storms
reaching 60 mph.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

It will be noticeably cooler on Tuesday. There will also be a chance
of some showers and thunderstorms along the greater southern
mountains region Tuesday afternoon.

Hot temperatures will return to the region late in the week into
this upcoming weekend. Only isolated showers and thunderstorms will
be possible from Wednesday onward to next weekend. Most of this
activity will be along the Colorado and New Mexico border.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN LAS ANIMAS COUNTY
THROUGH 415 PM MDT...

At 351 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Kim, or 37 miles northeast of Des Moines, moving east
at 5 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Kim.
