The archived warnings, watches and discussions in force at that minute are drawn over the scan, this one among them.

Did it verify

Not verified. The Iowa Environmental Mesonet's Cow found no qualifying storm report inside this severe thunderstorm warning while it was in force. That is not proof nothing happened: reports are thin where few people live.

Cow counts a report within 15 km of the polygon while the warning was in force: a tornado for a tornado warning; hail of 1 inch or more, a gust of 58 mph or more or wind damage for a severe thunderstorm warning; a flash flood report for a flash flood warning.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 220 AM EDT Sat Aug 29 2026

Today-Tonight...Broad mid-level ridging will remain situated
across the Atlantic waters, with some troughing across north
Florida continuing to weaken through today. At the surface, the
Atlantic high is forecast to lift north of the Florida peninsula
as a quasi- stationary boundary draped across the southeastern US
weakens and washes out overnight. Locally, this set-up will keep
east central Florida under a plume of deep moisture, with PWATs
exceeding 2" areawide. Additionally, with the ridge axis shifting
northward, the persistent southerly flow will finally shift,
becoming more easterly both at the surface and gradually aloft.
This will support development of the east coast sea breeze today,
with the onshore flow assisting in its progression inland through
this afternoon. Initial development of isolated showers and storms
along the sea breeze will be possible, with coverage anticipated
to increase as the sea breeze pushes inland. The peak coverage
will occur in association with the east and west coast sea breeze
collision late this afternoon into the evening hours, primarily
across Lake and western Orange and Osceola counties. Storm chances
will increase through the day as the environment becomes more
favorable for development. Daytime heating will lead to increasing
instability across the area, with modest low-level lapse rates
and MUCAPE of 1800 J/kg and greater forecast. Some drier air aloft
will help increase downdraft potential, with DCAPE forecast to
range from 700- 1000 J/kg. Due to these parameters, the primary
storm hazards for today will include frequent lightning strikes,
wind gusts up to 55 mph, and heavy downpours. Minor, localized
flooding cannot be ruled out in some spots, with quick rainfall
accumulations of 1-3" possible. Shower and storm activity will
diminish this evening following the sea breeze collision, with
continued development across the local Atlantic waters forecast
overnight. The persistent onshore flow may mean some activity
makes it to the coast, but chances remain low (20-30%).

Temperatures today are forecast to reach the upper 80s to low 90s
along the coast and the low to mid 90s across the interior west
of I- 95. While peak heat indices will remain below Heat Advisory
criteria, values are still anticipated to range from 100F to 107F.
Adequate hydration, frequent breaks in the shade or A/C, and
wearing lightweight, lightly colored clothing will all be
important in order to prevent heat-related illness. Muggy
conditions will persist into the overnight hours, though lows will
remain near normal in the low to mid 70s.

At the beaches, a moderate risk of rip currents is forecast due
to a developing long-period swell and the onshore flow. Always
swim near a lifeguard and never enter the ocean alone. Heed the
advice of local beach safety officials and posted flags.

Sunday-Friday...Mid-level high pressure will slowly slide
eastward across the southern US through the remainder of the
weekend and into next week, where it is forecast to remain the
predominant feature aloft over Florida. At the surface, broad high
pressure will remain in place, with the ridge axis staying north
of the Florida peninsula. Locally, easterly winds both at the
surface and aloft are anticipated to prevail, supporting
development and intrusion inland of the east coast sea breeze each
afternoon. A moist air mass will remain in place across the
peninsula with PWATs of 2.0-2.3" locally, keeping rain chances
near to slightly above normal (40-80%). Activity will generally
move towards the west coast, with an eventual sea breeze collision
across the interior leading to increasing coverage during the
afternoon and evening hours each day. Storm development will be
possible with this activity, with lightning strikes, gusty winds,
and heavy downpours likely the primary concerns. Shower and storm
activity will diminish into the overnight hours, though continued
development across the local Atlantic waters cannot be ruled out
each night along with a low chance for some light showers moving
onto the coast due to the prevailing easterly flow. Outside of
shower and storm chances, anticipate temperatures remaining
generally near normal with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and
lows in the low to mid 70s. Humid and muggy conditions will
persist, with a low chance of reaching Heat Advisory criteria in
some spots late next week. Residents and visitors will be
encouraged to remain adequately hydrated if spending extended
periods of time outdoors and also take breaks in the shade or a
building with A/C to help prevent the development of heat-related
illness.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 220 AM EDT Sat Aug 29 2026

Generally favorable boating conditions are forecast through this
weekend and into next week. The Atlantic ridge axis will lift
north of the local waters today and remain situated to the north
into next week, resulting in persistent easterly flow locally.
Wind speeds are forecast to generally remain between 5 to 10 knots
through the period. While seas are anticipated to stay below
cautionary criteria, the onshore flow will promote slight building
to 2 to 4 feet, highest across the offshore waters. Isolated to
scattered shower and storm development will be possible in the
persistent onshore flow, with activity moving towards the
peninsula. Cloud-to- water lightning strikes, wind gusts in excess
of 30 knots, heavy downpours, and locally higher seas will all be
possible with activity.

&&

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFs)
Issued at 130 PM EDT Sat Aug 29 2026

VFR conditions prevailing outside of convection. An area of SHRA
with embedded TSRA is moving northward along the Treasure Coast as
of around 17Z. CAMs suggest this activity will move northward
towards VRB before pushing inland around 20-21Z. Elsewhere,
convection is beginning to develop along the east coast sea
breeze, which has already moved west of I-95. Expect additional
showers and storms to focus along this boundary, quickly moving to
the western half of the peninsula through the afternoon. Drier
conditions are forecast to develop by around 23Z. However,
additional showers will be possible along the coast from TIX
southward after 6Z, possibly lingering through much of the
morning. E/SE flow prevails at around 10 kts today, becoming light
overnight.
