Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. Frost and freeze conditions could
kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage
  unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Sunday night)
Issued at 1200 AM CST Fri Jan 30 2026

A surface low is moving southeast across southern Arkansans early
this morning while the associated cold front moves into Louisiana
and eastern Texas. Canadian high pressure is building south
across the plains behind the front.

The warm up has been brief with most locations making it into the
60s this past afternoon. Patchy fog has developed as the moisture
increases ahead of the approaching front, however the boundary will
push through the region during the early morning hours. The fog will
clear as this occurs. Temperatures today will be around 10 degrees
cooler than Thursday's as a colder airmass advects in. Wind chills
by Saturday morning will be in the teens a 20s across the region as
temps continue to decrease. The true Canadian airmass will arrive
through Saturday which can especially be noted in the very low
dewpoints by afternoon. Early Saturday, before the airmass really
dries out, and while a moisture starved short wave passes overhead,
a few flurries may occur. Chances are very low and no accumulation
is anticipated. IF they do occur chances are slightly higher in LA
than in SE TX.

The Canadian airmass will be fully in place by Saturday night/Sunday
morning with another hard freeze expected across the region. Lows
will be in the teens and 20s. Wind chills will be near the same
as winds will be light to near calm Sunday morning.

The ridge will begin to shift east of the area by late Sunday. Winds
will become SW by sunset beginning a warming trend, however
another freeze is anticipated Monday morning away from the
immediate coast.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Friday)
Issued at 1200 AM CST Fri Jan 30 2026

Moisture will increase farther into Tuesday and Wednesday as yet
another system approaches. A chance of showers and storms returns to
the region Tuesday afternoon and lingers into Wednesday night as a
cold front passes through. Only a modest cool down is anticipated by
Friday.

&&

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 525 AM CST Fri Jan 30 2026

The leading edge of a Canadian cold front is moving across the
forecast area currently. Winds will become from the northwest and
increase and be gusty after 30/15z with gusts near or over 25
knots at times. Wind gusts will decrease after 31/01z.

Some low clouds linger at KLFT/KARA through about 30/15z with MVFR
ceilings before lifting as front moves through and winds increase.
Otherwise, just high level clouds will be moving across during the
period.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 1200 AM CST Fri Jan 30 2026

A cold front that will quickly turn winds to the NW as we
approach sunrise. Winds quickly become strong and gusty through
early morning, with an extended period of strong offshore flow
expected to persist through Saturday night. This long duration of
winds 20-30 kts will allow seas to steadily build into the 4-10 ft
range tomorrow through Sat. Therefore, a Small Craft Advisory
will go into affect early tomorrow morning and continue through
00Z Saturday. In addition, a low water advisory is in affect for
the coastal lakes/bays. Conditions gradually improve late Sat into
Sun as high pressure settles overhead once again.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 1200 AM CST Fri Jan 30 2026

A strong cold front will sweep across the region early this
morning bringing about a period of strong offshore flow through
early Sunday. A colder and drier airmass will arrive by late
Friday, with minRH values in the 25-40% range over the weekend,
while temps only warm into the mid 30s to low 40s. Conditions
moderate quickly early next week as onshore flow becomes
reestablished by late Mon. Seasonal temps and slightly more humid
conditions, along with light to moderate onshore flow, will
continue throughout early next week until the passage of another
cold front Wed night/early Thurs.
