...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM CDT FOR EAST
CENTRAL RAPIDES AND NORTHWESTERN AVOYELLES PARISHES...

At 542 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located over Echo, or near
Effie, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Emergency management confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This tornado will be near...
  Marksville, Effie, Ruby, and Centerpoint around 545 PM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to an
interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid
windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move
to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying
debris.

.KEY MESSAGES...

- A tornado watch is in effect until 6 PM for strong storms moving
  across the region tonight. A further watch will likely be needed
  into south-central Louisiana.

- Damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail will all be possible
  with the risk persisting after dark. Make sure to have a way to
  receive emergency alerts overnight.

- Cooler and drier weather expected behind the front to end the
  week before a light warming trend prior to another cold front
  passage Sunday night.

Frontal system is moving into the region at this hour. The
environment is still progged to become more supportive of
deepening cells with rotation ahead of the main line consisting
of storms with damaging winds and embedded tornadoes.

Tornado watch will persist until 6 PM with an extension likely
needed as we progress into the evening.

Behind the front, strong northeast winds will develop bringing
much colder and drier air into the region.

system moves through. Periods of showers with stronger
thunderstorms are

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, some strong to severe, will
be expected during the afternoon and evening. Winds turn offshore
and strengthen quickly in the wake of a passing front with
rapidly building seas to follow. A small craft advisory is in
place through midnight tonight before winds strengthen further and
conditions turn over to Gale force winds and gusts through
Thursday morning. Winds and seas will fall quickly to below small
craft criteria after sundown Thursday.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 332 PM CDT Wed Mar 11 2026

Strong southeast winds have developed over the region in response
to a cold front moving into east Texas. Surface winds have
overachieved so far and sustained surface winds 15 to 20 knots
with gusts up to 30 knots are ongoing at this hour. Anticipate
these winds to persist and perhaps could be slightly higher thru
the afternoon.

A cluster of afternoon showers and thunderstorms followed by a
line of strong thunderstorms is expected to impact east Cameron
Parish this afternoon and evening. With storms, frequent
lightning, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes will be the main
threat. Rainfall will be heavy, but storm motion will limit how
much can reach the surface.

Winds will shift swiftly behind the main line of storms this
evening and will strengthen thru Thursday morning. A much cooler
and drier airmass will arrive beginning THU AM.
