.KEY MESSAGES...

-Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall this afternoon and will
 continue to weaken as it moves inland. Conditions will improve
 tonight into tomorrow morning, with WWAs expected to be dropped.

-Heavy rainfall with the potential for flash flooding, especially
 in urban areas, will be possible along and near the track of the
 center of the low and under rainbands.

-A broad weakness in the mid levels will remain over the area,
 along with abundant moisture, keeping decent chances for daily
 scattered showers and thunderstorms amid typical summertime heat.

Tropical Storm Edouard officially made landfall near Johnsons
Bayou, LA, at 220 PM. The system will continue to weaken as it
moves inland. We received several reports of 50-60+ MPH wind gusts
across our coastal areas, with the highest being a gust to 71 MPH
at Texas Point shortly before landfall. The Hurricane Watch was
dropped earlier and replaced with a Tropical Storm Warning, while
the Storm Surge Warning was replaced with a Coastal Flood Warning
for lower Jefferson and western Cameron Parishes, along with a
Coastal Flood Advisory for southern Orange County, southern
Calcasieu, and eastern Cameron Parishes. Given that the coastal
threat has not entirely materialized and the system is now moving
inland, it is possible that the remaining coastal flood products
could be dropped over the next several hours.

Despite Edouard's expected rapid weakening, rainfall impacts will
linger and become the primary threat. Current conditions remain
favorable for flash flooding, with rainfall rates up to 5 inches
per hour indicated by MRMS this afternoon. Lingering tropical
moisture will continue to facilitate additional showers and
thunderstorms through tomorrow.

By Thursday, an upper level trough will deepen over the western
Gulf and lead to daily scattered showers and thunderstorms. Aloft,
a ridge will also expand from the Southern Plains into the
Southeast. Central and northern portions of Louisiana, as well as
interior southeast Texas, will warm back into the upper 90s, with
lower 90s toward the coast.

Rain and thunderstorms associated with Edouard will continue to
produce temporary reductions in visibility and ceilings across the
area. Conditions will gradually improve as the system continues to
move inland; however, deteriorating conditions will remain
possible at any site directly impacted by the heavier rainbands.
Winds will also remain gusty at times, especially at LCH and BPT.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for GMZ 450, 470, and
452, as well as Sabine and Calcasieu Lakes. Seas of 4 to 8 ft and
gusts of up to 60 MPH will remain possible in the near term;
however, conditions will steadily improve as Edouard moves farther
inland. Seas of 1 to 3 ft and winds generally below 10 kt are
expected for the remainder of the forecast period.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Fire weather impacts during the forecast period will largely
depend on the evolution of Tropical Storm Edouard. The greatest
moisture will remain concentrated near the center of the system,
with minimum relative humidity values ranging from around 50
percent over central Louisiana to 60 to 80 percent along coastal
Louisiana and southeast Texas.These areas will also have the
greatest potential for significant rainfall. Breezy conditions are
expected through the remainder of the day across coastal southeast
Texas and southwest Louisiana.
