* Until 1145 PM CDT.
* At 844 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain in Lecompte, LA. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

A hot and humid day is ongoing across the region. Dewpoints are
slightly lower (1 or 2 degrees) across the region today, as
opposed to yesterday, however apparent temperatures will likely
still stop out in the 105 to 110 range with the hottest
temperatures across inland areas.
A cold front is stretched from central TX to the AR and LA border
to the Mid Atlantic coast. PWATs are high along and ahead of the
boundary with values at 2" to near 2.5". Aloft, a short wave is
pushing east across TX and OK. Widespread convection with pockets
of heavy rain is occurring along the front and ahead of the short
wave.
Through the afternoon and tonight the short wave will push across
the local region while the cold front moves in. Convection to the
north and west is anticipated to move in, but not until later in
the afternoon then through tonight. Pockets of heavy rain will be
possible with even an isolated severe storm.
The front will stall in the region through Saturday while
interacting with deep moisture and a weakness aloft. Scattered
storms are anticipated. High chances of rain will be found across
inland areas, hence the slight risk of excessive rain from
interior SE TX through Cen LA. With extra cloud cover, apparent
temps will be a few degrees lower.
The front will lift back north while washing out late Saturday.
Isolated afternoon storms will be possible Sunday.
Weak ridging will build over the area early next week suppressing
convection, but an upper trof may dig into the eastern CONUS late
in the week to provide a chance for rain locally.
