Issued at 125 PM CDT Wed Apr 1 2026

Tonight through next Tuesday...Convection that's developed across
the forecast area this afternoon will gradually dissipate this
evening as daytime heating wanes.  While severe storms are not
expected, a few of the more intense storms could produce some gusty
winds this afternoon, with some heavy downpours also possible.  Low
stratus will again develop across the area during the overnight
hours into early Thursday morning. Some isolated showers will also
be possible around day break Thursday, as lows fall into the 60s.

A shortwave will attempt to push a weak frontal boundary into and
through the region Thursday night into early Friday morning. This
will bring some slightly better rain chances to the forecast area
both Thursday and Friday, particularly across western portions of
the CWA during peak heating hours.  However, due to high pressure
hanging firmly in place across the region from the east, this system
will struggle to make any headway into the CWA. This will cause the
boundary to hang up just to our west, and essentially erode.  In
addition to the increased rain chances Thursday, winds will also be
breezy across the area as well, due to the tightening pressure
gradient.  By late morning and continuing through the afternoon,
winds will generally be sustained from the south around 15 mph,
gusting at times between 25-30 mph, especially across the Delta.

Over the weekend, a stronger shortwave will successfully swing
through the region dragging a cold front into and through the CWA
Saturday night into early Sunday morning.  This will bring showers
and storms to the entire forecast area, particularly Saturday
afternoon and night.  Some light showers will linger across the area
in the front's wake during the first half of Easter Sunday, but the
day currently does not look to be a washout.

A cool down will also exist across the area both Easter Sunday and
Monday as colder drier air advects into the region.  Highs each day
will range from the middle 60s to lower 70s, with lows Sunday night
from the mid 40s to lower 50s and in the 40s areawide in Monday
night.  Come Tuesday though, temperatures will once again be on the
rebound. /19/

Flight categories will continue to vary between VFR/MVFR status
this afternoon and evening, thanks to both clouds and isolated to
scattered convection across the area. While convection will
dissipate in the evening as daytime heating wanes, developing lows
stratus will again result in categories falling into the MVFR/IFR
range through Thursday morning. Winds today will remain from the
south between 8-13 knots, while gusting at times up around 20
knots. These will subside a bit this evening, but still remaining
southerly between 5-10 knots. /19/
