Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Green Bay WI 134 PM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026 Forecast discussion for routine afternoon forecast issuance .KEY MESSAGES... - Flooding concerns continue through next week due to recent rainfall as some rivers reach bankfull or minor flood stage. - A chance of rain and snow is possible late Sunday into Monday, with additional periods of precipitation from Tuesday night through next weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 134 PM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026 The wrap around moisture associated with the departing low will bring another swath of precipitation in from the west this evening into tonight. Precipitation will be a mix of rain and snow across central Wisconsin, with mainly snow expected across northern Wisconsin. Further east, conditions are expected to remain dry as the low tracks northeast towards western Quebec. Snowfall amounts tonight are expected to be light, with a dusting to at most a few tenths of an inch. Snowfall amounts could approach an inch across far northwest Vilas County with some moisture from Lake Superior. Winds will also become gusty this evening as they turn to the west with gusts of 20 to 25 mph expected. Dry weather is expected for most of Sunday before a clipper system brings a chance of rain and snow from Sunday evening through Monday. Moisture and forcing appear to be limited with this system; therefore, minimal impacts are expected. An active pattern looks to set up from mid next week through next weekend with several chances for precipitation, but details, such as timing and precipitation type, remain uncertain at this time. The main system in the extended that bears watching is in the Thursday night through Friday night time frame where a swath of significant precipitation could impact the region or just graze the area depending on the evolution of a low pressure system developing over the central and southern Plains. && .AVIATION...for 18Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1222 PM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026 Low stratus and some visibility restrictions will continue across the region with IFR/LIFR CIGs and MVFR/IFR VSBYs. After a lull in the precipitation this afternoon, a mix of light rain and snow will move into the area from west to east this afternoon into this evening. Snow and IFR conditions are expected to remain longest at RHI through late this evening before improving to MVFR. Elsewhere, cigs will improve to MVFR from east to west late this afternoon through late this evening. Skies are then expected to clear late tonight into Sunday as a ridge of high pressure tracks through the western Great Lakes.
