...Afternoon Area Forecast Discussion...

.KEY MESSAGES...

 - Strong downburst winds and isolated instances of flooding
   remain a threat with any storms that form through the evening.

 - Daily thunderstorm chances peaking each afternoon and warm
   seasonal temperatures are expected through early next week.

The forecast area remains sandwiched between a high pressure ridge
over the western US and the Bermuda high over the Atlantic. With
this pattern expected to hold through the weekend expect warm
temperatures and scattered showers and thunderstorms, peaking each
afternoon, to be the trend for North and Central Georgia. All
thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning and locally
heavy rainfall. High moisture content (PWs) and decent instability
may also favor a risk for downburst winds.

Patchy fog and low clouds will also be a possibility each morning
right around sunrise, primarily in areas that receive a good bit of
rain. Outside of the North GA mountains, temperatures each day are
forecast to climb into the upper 80s to mid 90s. Overnight
temperatures are forecast to range from the mid 60s to low 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday morning through next Thursday)

The CWA will continue with a hot and humid pattern through the
extended period, influenced by a retrograding Bermuda high that
will build heights through the first of next week with a
persistent light southerly flow. The moisture profile will remain
conducive for diurnal scattered thunderstorms each day, but
coverage will likely be slightly less from the last several days
in the absence of the departed mid/upper-level low. Widespread
severe weather potential remains limited with a weak shear profile
and light winds aloft. That being said, some storms will be
capable of strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall rates through the
period. Surface temperatures will also be on the rise, increasing
into the low to mid 90s through Monday, which could prompt a heat
advisory by early next week.

As we move into the second half of next week, the ridge axis shifts
into the Gulf with possible shortwave activity traversing the
northern periphery over our CWA. This would enhance the diurnal
convection by the end of next week.

Sct to BKN Cu 2-4kft has developed across the airspace with sct
tsra increasing in coverage across the west terminals. Expect
this trend to hold thru at least 00z. Unsure about additional tsra
at CSG, given earlier activity but could see a stray shower or
storm this aftn. SSE to SW winds 4-7kts may be vrb at times thru
the period. Patchy MVFR to IFR cigs may develop again early Sat
but exact timing/extent is uncertain.
