  - Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms can be
    expected across the area through the beginning of next week.

  - Locally heavy rainfall will remain the primary concern in any
    thunderstorms given the continued moist environment in place.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Saturday)

The frontal boundary currently draped over northern Georgia into
South Carolina will be our main emphasis for elevated precip
chances through Saturday. CAMs are indicating that fairly
widespread showers and thunderstorms will affect much of north and
central Georgia through much of the day. Expecting showers to
begin as early as 10-11am today in the western portions of the
area before pushing eastward through the afternoon and beginning
to affect eastern Georgia. With elevated PWATs continuing and
overall weak storm motions expected, flooding will be the main
concern. Heavier axis of precip is expected over central Georgia
with rain rates ~1.5-2.5"/hour anticipated this afternoon and
evening. FFGs in this area are ~3"/3hr, so will need to monitor
this afternoon and evening for training storms which could lead to
flooding conditions. Thankfully this area is known for it's sandy
soils so confidence is low in the flooding potential at this time.
CAMs indicate showers will continue into the overnight and into
Saturday morning vs the normal diminishing around sunset which
will also increase the chances for morning low clouds and patchy
fog Saturday morning with increased moisture in the area.

The same forecast will pretty much run through the early part of
next week with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s and afternoon
thunderstorms forming between 2-3PM and falling apart again after
10PM. No severe weather is expected, and the only real concern we
continue to monitor is the potential for flash flooding; primarily
in the urban areas.

For the first time in a while, we're beginning to see a pretty good
sign of a pattern shift come Tuesday and into Wednesday. A cut off
low out of New England will make it's way south into the mid
Atlantic region, setting up High pressure down the spine of the
Appalachians and into the SE. This will hold off the Bermuda High to
the east and the Omega block in the west until the end of next week,
when that pattern starts to break down.

If you're holding on to hope for sunshine, hang in there. It should
be just long enough for things to dry out and for everyone to mow
their lawn before we dive back into that summertime pattern.

evening and near end of taf cycle. Isolated lightning threat even
during -SHRA. VRB cigs thru period depending on precip coverage.
Generally MVFR to VFR outside precip during day, falling to IFR to
LIFR tngt around or after 5z through 15-17z. Winds E/SE this aftn
with VRB near TSRA. Winds less than 5kts tonight turn to SW
Saturday morning.

At 155 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Middle Georgia Regional
Airport, or 7 miles south of Macon, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
         heavy rain.
