   headlines are likely.

   heavy rainfall.

Oppressive and impactful heat continues to be the main story for
North and Central Georgia through Saturday and really through early
next week. A few spots across Central GA, namely Americus and
Dublin, already read 91F over 83F and 92F over 80F (temp/dewpoint)
respectively...yuck! As ridging aloft slides more overhead, heat and
humidity will only rise across the area. Outside of the mountains,
air temperatures each day are forecast to rise into the mid to upper
90s, potentially nearing 100F in parts of East GA. Dewpoints in the
70s breaching 80s in some spots will make things feel like a sauna
and result in triple digit heat indices. For this reason, a Heat
Advisory remains in effect for all except the higher elevations
through Saturday evening. Unfortunately, the overnight period will
provide little in the way of relief from the heat with overnight
lows expected to remain in the 70s to low 80s. Additional heat
headlines are likely in future forecast as the heat looks to still
around. Please be mindful of the dangerous heat as you plan for any
outdoor work or activities as we head into the weekend.

The only possible fly in the ointment for the temperature forecast
will be any convection that develops across the area each afternoon.
At the time of this writing, convection has already begun to take
advantage of the highly moist and unstable environment. Frequent
lightning, gusty winds and heavy downpours will accompany any
thunderstorm. Though with high moisture content, PWs in excess of
1.7" are forecast for most places (FFC 12z sounding showed PW:
1.99"), downdrafts will be heavily water-loaded and capable of
strong to severe wind gusts both this afternoon and on Saturday
afternoon. It's for the reason, convective coverage, that an Extreme
Heat Watch was not issued with this forecast package for portions of
East Georgia on Saturday. Though upgrades and extensions will
continue to be heavily monitored in future updates. Regardless,
please take care of yourself and others through the weekend!

Heat will continue to be the big concern through the long term
forecast. The models are in pretty good agreement that we will be at
or just below heat advisory through next week. Daytime highs in the
mid to upper 90s will yield apparent temperatures between 100-105
for all but the highest elevations of NE Georgia. Stay hydrated and
take care of kids and pets.

The ridge never really breaks down, but we will return to a more
zonal flow towards the middle of the week. This will bring back the
chance for afternoon driven convection and decrease the chance of an
MCS riding the ridge out of the great lakes. The low shear
environment should limit the amount of storms that become severe
during the afternoon but given the temps and dewpoints there will be
plenty of instability to work with.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of north and central
Georgia from noon today and continuing through tonight. High heat
and humidity will bring heat indices into the triple digits this
afternoon and both temperatures and humidity will remain elevated
tonight. Please exercise caution if outdoors and check on
vulnerable neighbors.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon.
Strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall will be the primary threats
with any storms that do form.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday...

Hot and humid conditions will persist through the weekend, with
heat indices in the triple digits each day. The Heat Advisory
continues through 8pm Saturday.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each
afternoon through the weekend into next week. Locally heavy
rainfall and gusty winds will be primary storm threats.
