* WHERE...Big Creek near Alpharetta.

* WHEN...Until late Friday night.

* IMPACTS...At 8 feet, Minor flooding continues to expand further
  into the woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in
  south Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton
  County. Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor
  flooding with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking
  paths will be closed, especially upstream and downstream from the
  gage on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Mill Park. Portions of
  the YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:45 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 7.5 feet and rising.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 7.8 feet
    Friday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Friday
    evening.

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Showers and thunderstorms will gradually move south through the
  early afternoon. Several storms may be strong, capable of
  producing gusty winds and frequent lightning.

- Additional rainfall amounts of up to 1-2 inch are possible where
  stronger storms occur to the south of Atlanta, which could lead
  to isolated flooding concerns.

- Cooler temperatures Thursday into Friday will give way to a
  warming trend through the weekend.

Current radar loop shows main line of showers and thunderstorms
oriented NE to SW across central GA is slowly weakening as it
pushes south. This line should move into South GA over the next
few hours with the main frontal boundary still lagging behind
across North GA. Hi-Ress models show the main frontal boundary
moving south through the state today with it finally exiting the
area by 00z Fri. We have see some fairly strong storms with this
system as some strong rain rates/precip amounts. Most locations
have see anywhere from 0.5" to 1.5" of precip with some isolated
locations seeing upwards of 2" to 4". 1 location has seen 5.29"
(CSG). High pressure builds in directly behind the exiting front
becoming centered across TN/N GA by daybreak Fri morning. This
ridge is not very strong and it wont last to long but it does keep
things dry across North and Central GA Friday.

By 12z Fri another wave begins to develop along the TX Gulf coast,
pushing NE into LA/MS by 00z Sat. This will be the next system to
affect our area as we get into the beginning of the extended
periods.

Temps in the short term (Today and Friday) expected to be a bit
cooler with highs mainly in the 70s with 60s across the NE GA
mountains. Lows tonight will be in the 40s and 50s.

Mild and Rain Chances Over The Weekend:

Moisture advection returns to start the weekend as low-level
winds turn out of the south-southwest ahead of mid-level
shortwave and surface low developing over the southern Plains.
The warmer, humid air will initially overrun the shallow cool
airmass in place on Saturday, leading to scattered showers and
weak storms, with the highest chances across central GA. Rain
chances increase further on Sunday as the warm air advection
strengthens with the aforementioned shortwave moving into the TN
Valley. Some thunderstorms will again be possible during the
afternoon and evening, but severe weather is not anticipated.
Another shortwave dropping across the Midwest into the TN Valley
late Sunday will send a cold front into our area Sunday night,
supporting continued shower and non-severe thunderstorm chances.
High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s each day
over the weekend, with morning lows in the 50s.

Dry and Initially Cool Early Next Week:

Following the cold front Sunday night into Monday morning, a
cooler and dry airmass will settle over the region within deep
northwest flow. Early morning rain will give way to dry
conditions with winds becoming breezy by the afternoon, and high
temperatures reaching the low to mid 70s across most of the area.
Conditions will be relatively cool on Tuesday, with morning lows
around 50, and highs in the low to mid 70s. Dry conditions will
likely continue into Wednesday, but a warming airmass will bring
highs back into the 80s.

Light SHRA with low ceilings this morning. Precip will be ending
from NW to SE across the area through the early afternoon hours.
Ceilings are mainly IFR and will continue over the next few
hours. Ceilings will slowly lifting into the VFR range by 18z-20z
then clear out later this afternoon/evening. Winds are mainly out
of the SW but will be turning to the NW as the frontal boundary
moves south of each observing site. The NW wind speeds will
increase this afternoon as winds pick up behind the front. Should
see speeds in the 8-12kt range with gust to 20kt this afternoon.
Wind speeds will diminish to 10kt or less shortly after sunset.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north and central Georgia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...

Showers and few thunderstorms will continue through this morning
with locally heavy rain, lightning and brief gusty winds the main
threats. A few strong to marginally severe storms remain possible
across central Georgia this morning, mainly south of an Americus to
Dublin to Swainsboro line.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of north Georgia and parts
of central Georgia through this morning for a localized risk of
flash flooding and river/stream flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday...

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Saturday into
Sunday. At this time, the severe threat remains low, with the
primary threats being locally heavy rain and brief gusty winds.
