...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...A portion of west central Georgia, including the following
  counties, Chattahoochee, Marion, Muscogee, Stewart and Webster.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
  flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected to move across portions
    of north and central Georgia from Wednesday afternoon through
    Thursday morning as a slow moving frontal boundary pushes across
    the area. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1.5-2.5" are likely,
    with locally higher amounts of 4" or more possible. Convective
    rainfall (showers and thunderstorms) may repeatedly train over
    areas, and have locally high enough rainfall rates to induce
    flash flooding in poor drainage and urban areas, as well as
    creeks and streams prone to flash flooding. Main-stem river
    flooding is not anticipated given the ongoing drought and low
    base state that these rivers are starting from.

High pressure centered off the Mid-Atlantic coast nosing into GA
and the Carolinas. This ridge is loosing its grip on the region
as the center is expected to move further east out to sea through
Wed. The ridge will keep things dry today, but with it moving out
this will allow precip to begin moving into N GA tonight. the
frontal system developing across the central plains this morning.
The frontal boundary moves across the southern great lake states
and into the Ohio Valley through tonight. A closed low center
develops along the frontal boundary over OK/AR this evening which
moves rapidly east across TN/KY tonight. This low center pushes
some showers and isolated thunderstorms into N GA just after
midnight. These showers and thunderstorms continue through the day
Wed with some strong storms expected Wed afternoon into the
evening hours. SPC currently has portions of north GA under a
marginal risk of severe storms for Wed afternoon/Night.

Temps Today and Wednesday will get up into the 70s and 80s with
lows tonight in the 50s and 60s.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Monday)

The long term kicks off on Thursday as showers and thunderstorms are
expected to be ongoing from the previous afternoon. The main concern
on Thursday will be heavy rain, which could present some flash
flooding problems. Especially across the metro area. Heavy rain
primarily along the I-20 corridor on Thursday morning could drop up
to two inches of rain in a 12 hour period. While most of the state
remains in drought, this much rain over an urban area has the
potential to create run off problems leading to urban flash flooding
issues.

As the front sinks south through the day on Thursday, it will pull
the axis of heaviest precip to the southern part of the CWA. The
threat of severe weather will remain low, as cloud coverage will
limit destabilization across central Georgia, but the possibility of
a few strong thunderstorms is certainly possible.

Another impulse in the upper level trough looks like it will take
aim at the area on Saturday, brining another round of showers and
thunderstorms to central Georgia, before another stronger low sweeps
through the area on Monday brining back the chance for thunderstorms
briefly before high pressure gives us a break by the middle part of
the week.

Temperatures will fall back into 70s on Thursday where they'll
remain through the rest of the forecast period. Overnight lows on
Thursday into Friday as well as Friday into Saturday will fall into
the 40s and it's entirely possible that a few obs in the upper 30s
show up in the NE Georgia Mountains. Given our current setup, the
threat for frost remains low, but if you have any sensitive plants
consider brining them inside.

VFR conditions to start the period with increasing high clouds
(20-25kft) throughout the day into the overnight hours. Chances
for a period of MVFR or lower CIGs will increase around 10-16Z
Wednesday for the ATL area, with very low end SHRA chances as
well. A return to VFR CIGs and PROB30 SHRA is expected after 18Z
Wednesday. Winds out of the S-SW at around 10kts this afternoon,
then becoming light again tonight, and returning to 10G20kts
Wednesday morning.
