...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 AM EDT THIS
MORNING FOR WESTERN COBB AND NORTHEASTERN DOUGLAS COUNTIES...

At 414 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
2.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will
continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, Powder Springs, Austell, Fair Oaks,
  Lithia Springs, Due West, Jim R Miller Park, Lost Mountain Park,
  Kennesaw State University and Mableton.

 - Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected each day
   through the weekend. A few strong to severe storms will be
   possible in east Georgia this afternoon, which may produce
   damaging wind gusts.

   flooding across portions of central Georgia today.

 - Seasonable temperatures are largely expected through the
   weekend, warming again early next week.

Lack of cloud cover over I-85 this morning resulted in a more
favorable environment for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon
and evening. Current cu field is stretching along I-85 along and
near the boundary with good vertical development. This has
resulted in scattered showers and thunderstorms across this area.
Most of these storms are outflow dominant so we are likely to see
gusty winds with the potential for an isolated severe storm or
two with downbursts as the main threat. Widespread cloud cover
over the southern half of the area has resulted in less coverage
but should still see isolated to scattered storms pick up into
the late afternoon/early evening. Expecting similar conditions
tomorrow as the trough stays over the area between the metro and
MCN.

With the increased coverage of showers and thunderstorms,
expecting there to be more fog/low cloud issues in the morning so
keep an eye out for patchy fog if you are driving in the morning.

The long-term pattern is pretty straightforward, with an upper-
level ridge building over the area through the extended period.
Forecast guidance and ML products showcase plentiful moisture
advection from the Gulf along the western periphery of the Bermuda
High, along with enough daily instability to support diurnally
driven thunderstorm chances each day through next week. The
combination of precipitable water values ranging from 1.5-1.9
inches and a lack of well established steering could lead to some
localized flash flooding with any more robust convective
developments. However, severe potential remains limited to the
daily heating influences, given little deep-layer wind shear or
propagating shortwaves to aid in the development of more enhanced
convection. That being said, there is enough daily instability to
support isolated strong to severe storms with gusty winds being
the primary threat. As the ridge builds over our area,
precipitation chances do look to decrease somewhat compared to
recent days.

High temperatures will gradually climb into the low to mid-90s
through the period. Combined with dewpoints in the low 70s,
conditions will push heat indices into the triple digits by the
second half of next week. At that point, we will need to monitor the
heat index as values approach the 105-degree mark for the possible
issuance of a Heat Advisory.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly across south and
central GA this afternoon/evening. CSG is the only TAF site
expecting some precip over the next few hours.  Winds expected to
stay mainly out of the E to SE in the 5-10kt range through the
period. Will see some VRB winds gusting to near 25kt in and
around convection. The remaining storms are expected to diminish
over the next few hours with another round of storms expected
again Fri afternoon/evening. Could see some MVFR to IFR ceilings
across MCN/CSG around sunrise with ceilings lifting into the VFR
range by 14-16z Sat.
