.KEY MESSAGES...

-  Isolated damaging wind threat is possible late tonight and
   again on Wednesday as NW flow keeps waves moving into the area.

-  Scattered thunderstorms will be possible each day this week
   posing a threat for gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.

-  Impactful heat is becoming increasingly likely as heat indices
   return to the mid 90s to low 100s by the middle of the week.

Current radar loop shows scattered showers and thunderstorms
developing across the area this afternoon. storms are mainly
across NW GA and central GA as there is a weak wedge of high
pressure building down the eastern seaboard into NE GA. Like the
past few days we are mainly expecting these storms to stay below
severe thresholds but can not rule out an isolated severe storm
or two popping up. PWATs are currently in the 2"-2.2" range with
MU Cape around 1500 to 2500 J/Kg and LIs in the -5 to -7 deg
range. Not much sheer available so looks like the greatest
convective threats are periods of heavy rain, frequent lightning
strikes, small hail, and strong gusty winds.

Wednesday will be much of the same as the wedge builds in a bit
further with NW flow keeping things going. Temperature Wed will
be very similar to today with highs in the upper 80s to the middle
90s.

(Thursday morning through next Monday)

As the long term sets up, a strengthening ridge will be building in
for the weekend. Chances for afternoon storms will start to decline,
while the risk for excessive heat ramps up. By Friday, most of the
CWA can expect apparent temperatures in the triple digits with the
eastern part of the forecast area reaching Heat Advisory criteria.
We'll need to keep an eye on temps over the next couple of days, but
if you have plans for this coming weekend, keep the heat in mind.

That's what we do know. Now for what we don't...

Over the next couple of days we'll be transitioning into NW flow.
This kind of pattern is notorious for letting MCS' make a big run
across half the country and end up on our doorstep. Long term models
struggle to pick these out from the noise, and as a result we'll
just need to wait and see how the ridge sets up over the next few
days. These ridge riders also have a habit of interrupting
forecasted high temperatures with the introduction of rain, making
the long term forecast a bit on the tricky side.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area this
afternoon. All of the TAF sites will have a chance to see a
SHRA/TSRA go across the airfield over the next few hours. These
storms will diminish after sunset with another round of storms
expected again Wed afternoon/evening. Winds mainly out of the W-NW
in the 5-10kt range. Will see gust in the 15-25kt range in and
around convection. VSBYs and ceilings are in the VFR range but
will see some MVFR to IFR readings in and around storms.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon
and evening across mainly north Georgia. Isolated severe storms
can also be expected. Primary threats will be strong gusty winds,
small hail, frequent lightning strikes, and periods of heavy
rainfall capable of producing some isolated flash flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday...

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each
afternoon through the week. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty
winds will be primary storm threats. Some storms on Wednesday
could become severe with the primary threat being damaging wind
gusts.
