While the mid level cut-off low spins down overhead, conditions will
be fairly rinse and repeat through mid-week. Weak and broad upper
level forcing combined with diurnal heating will lead to scattered
showers and a few rumbles of thunder each afternoon. No widespread
severe is expected at this time, though a few storms could develop
gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall. PWATs have come down from
this last weekend's highs (from 2-2.2" down to 1.6-1.8"), so the
risk of flooding will be fairly low outside of any stubborn cells
that don't move. One interesting feature to watch today will be
storm motion, as the low overhead turns the scattered showers/storms
around a central point likely over or near metro Atlanta (this won't
impact much in the forecast, just something cool to see later today
on satellite/radar).

Highs will continue to hold below 90 through the next few days. Or
as long as the upper level low stays overhead. Shower and
thunderstorm coverage will help to moderate temps during the day
before clearing out for radiative cooling at night.

Warm and Humid with Daily Storm Chances:

Overall, North and Central Georgia will remain in moist southwest
flow through most of the long term period. The mid-level low parked
over the TN Valley will finally slide north Thursday as it gets
squeezed between a ridge pushing in from the Western Atlantic, and
broad troughing across the Central US. Coverage of showers and
storms will be scattered to numerous through Friday, with plenty of
moisture and instability remaining over the region. While no
widespread severe weather is expected, a few strong storms will be
possible during the period, with strong winds as the primary threat,
in addition to localized flash flooding from the high moisture
content. Model guidance remains in good agreement on this typical
summertime pattern persisting through the upcoming weekend into
early next week. High temperatures will gradually warm up to the low
to mid 90s by this weekend as the ridge builds further over the
region. Heat index values will rise to the upper 90s to 100 across
North GA, with low 100s across Central GA.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of central Cobb and
central Fulton Counties through 100 PM EDT...

At 1229 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Bolton, or near
Atlanta. This storm was nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. If you can
         hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by
         lightning. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding
         especially in poor drainage areas.

Atlanta, Marietta, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Fair Oaks, Midtown, West
End, Vinings, Sweet Auburn, Jim R Miller Park, Piedmont Park,
