Conditions this morning will see patchy cloud cover and even some
patchy fog (especially in areas which saw good rains over the last
24-36 hrs.

The rest of the near term outlook remains fairly inactive even with
the current upper level pattern. Mid and upper level flow will hold
the trough/cut-off low over the southeast as ridging to the east and
west erode the feature. This means that upper level forcing will be
relatively weak, though enough to allow scattered diurnally driven
convection each afternoon. With plenty of moisture still in the area
and likely slow storm motion, locally heavy rainfall could result in
a patchy flash flooding risk. While instability will likely be
limited, any stronger storms may be capable of gusts in the 30 to 50
mph range.

Thanks to the trough, temperatures will also remain slightly cooler
than normal with highs in the mid/upper 80s climbing to the low 90s
by Wednesday.

Daily Storm Chances and a Slight Warming Trend:

North and Central Georgia will remain in moist southwest flow mid-
week as a cutoff mid-level low remains parked over the TN Valley.
Large scale ascent from this system will support another day of
numerous to widespread showers and storms, with highest coverage
across northern areas. The low will finally slide north Thursday as
it gets squeezed between a ridge pushing in from the Western
Atlantic, and broad troughing across the Central US. Coverage of
showers and storms will decrease, becoming scattered to numerous
through Friday as plenty of moisture and instability remains over
the region. While no widespread severe weather is expected, a few
strong storms will be possible during the period, with strong winds
as the primary threat, in addition to localized flash flooding from
the high moisture content. Model guidance remains in good agreement
on this typical summertime pattern persisting into next weekend.
High temperatures will initially be in the 80s to low 90s mid-week
due to increased cloud cover and proximity of the mid-level low, but
will gradually warm up to the low to mid 90s by the weekend as the
ridge builds in.
