* Fog expected along and south of the Missouri (outside of the
  Metro) this morning.

* A period of unsettled weather is forecast for Tuesday through
  Friday however, any severe or flooding threat appears low.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 202 AM CDT Sun May 24 2026

Main concern in the short term will be for dense fog this morning
for much of area south of the Missouri River (except the Metro).
Yesterday's precipitation coupled with light winds and clear skies
is allowing dense fog to develop reducing visibilities to a 1/4 mile
or less in spots. Consequently, a dense fog advisory is in place
through 14Z. Despite weak mixing with a surface ridge of high
pressure in place today, copious sunshine should allow fog to burn
of quickly this morning and sunny skies coupled with mid-level
height rises will drive highs into the lower 80s. The surface ridge
of high pressure will remain in control over the area tonight into
early tomorrow before it finally shifts east of the area tomorrow
afternoon. Modest WAA will get underway in its wake allowing highs
to rise into the mid 80s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Issued at 202 AM CDT Sun May 24 2026

The pattern become active again on Tuesday, as a slow mid-level
shortwave move north into the area from the southern Plains. This
will allow showers and thunderstorms to develop Tuesday afternoon
over the area. This mid-level shortwave remains parked over the area
through Wednesday continuing shower and thunderstorm chances (40-
60%). Showers are forecast to become more spotty (15-30%) Wednesday
night as the upper level trough weakens and shifts east of the area.
On Thursday, however, another slow moving mid-level shortwave will
move northeastward into the area from the southern Plains. this
feature will reside over the area through Friday keeping the pattern
unsettled with additional shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday
and Friday. This feature will weaken over the area Saturday with a
few remaining showers possible. Despite several rounds of showers
and storms expected through the period, the severe and flood threat
look low. High temperatures through this unsettled period will be in
the low to mid 80s Tuesday through Thursday cooling into the mid 70s
to near 80 Friday and Saturday.

Issued at 1150 PM CDT Sat May 23 2026

VFR conditions expected to prevail at all terminals. High
pressure overhead will cause winds to remain variable through
the night and into the morning. By the afternoon, winds should
begin to establish themselves generally south/southeasterly
around 5-10 kts, with skies expected to remain clear. Fog
potential tonight remains largely south of terminals due to
residual moisture from yesterday's rainfall.
