...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT WEST CENTRAL DUVAL AND EAST
CENTRAL WEBB COUNTIES THROUGH 700 PM CDT...
At 620 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16
miles northwest of Realitos, or 17 miles west of Benavides, moving
northwest at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of west central Duval
and east central Webb Counties.
This includes US Highway 59 between mile markers 778 and 792.

Issued at 159 PM CDT Thu Aug 6 2026 - Moderate to major risk of heat-related impacts through the week, with peak heat indices 105 to 110, and high to extreme WBGT values. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 159 PM CDT Thu Aug 6 2026 Spotty showers have been popping up in association with a surface shortwave trough and the arrival of the seabreeze. These will continue to be isolated in nature and taper off this evening. Mid- level high pressure will dominate the period leading to warm and mostly rain free conditions outside of isolated seabreeze convection each day. This is thanks to some midlevel energy riding the periphery of ridge as it builds from the east. Will continue to monitor the need for some short- fused heat related products. We could see heat indices up to 115 at times with dew points around the mid to upper 70s present through the next week. This translates to Moderate to Major heat stress conditions though we could see some areas reach Extreme conditions by Wednesday. We strongly encourage the practice of heat safety in these conditions. Take frequent breaks and remember to stay hydrated, check those backseats, and avoid long exposure in these temperatures. Periods of MVFR cigs and VSBYs will be possible once again tomorrow morning at a couple eastern terminals (mainly ALI and VCT though not out of the question for CRP). Winds will be breezy out of the south until this evening before becoming generally light. && .MARINE... Issued at 159 PM CDT Thu Aug 6 2026 Gentle to moderate onshore flow will be expected through the forecast period, occasionally fresh winds can be observed along the nearshore waters and bays during the afternoon. Seas will generally range from 2-3 feet through the period. Daily rain chances will be under 20% through the weekend. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 131 AM CDT Thu Aug 6 2026 Min RHs will generally drop into the 25-35% range each afternoon through the weekend in the western Brush country and Rio Grande Plains. These low RHs combined with ERCs in the 55-75th percentile range will support localized elevated fire weather conditions over this region each day, however fuel moisture are generally near normal, thus any elevated conditions should be limited.
