  bringing a marginal to slight flash flood and severe risk.

- Flood Watch in effect through noon today for the southern Brush
  Country and portions of the Coastal Bend.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 143 AM CDT Wed May 27 2026

Convection will persist overnight with conditions beginning to
improve by Wednesday midday as another round pushes eastward from
Mexico during the early morning hours. Strong to severe
thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and hail will
persist through this period. Already a large swatch of 1-3 inches of
rainfall and more to come, warrants a Flood Watch for the southern
Brush Country and portions of the Coastal Bend.

A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms will continue through
the day thanks to lingering moisture and the sea breeze. Expect a
ridge to begin building in the region by Thursday allowing for
generally warmer and drier conditions.

Chances for showers and storms will return to the region this
weekend as the ridge weakens allowing for shortwaves to creep into
the region. Chances remain low at this time, though it will be
something to watch in future forecast packages. Highs will be in the
80s and 90s through next week.

Mainly MVFR ceilings have developed around a line of showers and
thunderstorms currently over the Coastal Plains, with a cluster
developing over the Rio Grande Plains. Occasionally, IFR ceilings
have made their appearance inland. We'll continue to high variable
winds up to 35 knots within thunderstorms directly impacting
terminals, followed by low ceilings through this morning. Flash
flooding and hydroplaning is a concern this morning as another
round makes its way across the southern Brush Country and Coastal
Bend, mainly impacting LRD/ALI/CRP. Rain chances decrease as we
head into the afternoon along with conditions improving to VFR
across the region.

Issued at 143 AM CDT Wed May 27 2026

Moderate to Fresh (BF 4-5) E-SE winds will prevail today. Light to
Gentle (BF 2-3) SE winds will then prevail Thursday through
Saturday. There is a high (60-70%) chance of thunderstorms through
this morning bringing periods of gusty and erratic winds and locally
elevated seas.

.HYDROLOGY...
Issued at 143 AM CDT Wed May 27 2026

An estimated widespread 0.5" to 2.0" of rain has fallen already
early this morning. Another round of showers and storms are lining
up east-west across the southern Brush Country into Coastal Bend,
capable of producing a few more inches of rain. Due to the primed
soils and lower flash flood guidance, a Flood Watch is now in
effect for the aforementioned region through this morning.
Remember, 'turn around, don't drown.'

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN DUVAL AND EAST
CENTRAL WEBB COUNTIES THROUGH 1215 AM CDT...

At 1130 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 14
miles northeast of Ranchitos Las Lomas, or 25 miles west of Freer,
moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Ranchitos Las Lomas.

This includes US Highway 59 between mile markers 770 and 810.

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

At 1214 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Yoakum
to near Thomaston to Weesatche. Movement was east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.
