EVENING FOR BERKELEY, CHARLESTON AND DORCHESTER COUNTIES...

At 555 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a nearly stationary area of
thunderstorms over North Charleston. As much as 2 to 3 inches of rain
have fallen in some areas. An additional 1 to 3 inches could fall
through 715 PM, resulting moderate urban and flash flooding. At 547
PM, emergency management officials reported Greenridge Road at St.
Ives Road was flooded in North Charleston with a stalled car. Other
roadways are likely flooded in parts of the warning area.

As additional thunderstorms move across the area, the degree of urban
and flash flooding may worsen.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

At 603 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a nearly stationary area of
thunderstorms over North Charleston. As much as 2 to 3 inches of rain
have fallen in some areas. An additional 2 to 3 inches could fall
through 715 PM, resulting significant urban and flash flooding. At
547 PM, emergency management officials reported Greenridge Road at
St. Ives Road was flooded in North Charleston with a stalled car.
Other roadways are likely flooded in parts of the warning area. The
degree of flash flooding may worsen through 7 PM as additional
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall move through the area.

At 615 PM, fire officials and local media reported multiple vehicles
stranded in high water near Northwoods Mall. Road closures are likely
within the flash flood warning area.

* At 723 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated rain was quickly ending
  across the North Charleston Area. Emergency officials and local
  media report flash flooding is still ongoing with some road
  closures. Water was reported to be in some homes. While additional
  flash flooding is unlikely in the near term, hazardous conditions
  continue. Another area of showers and thunderstorms northwest of
  Walterboro could move into the area later this evening.

At 835 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with torrential
rainfall extending from Ridgeville to Delemar Crossroads. This
activity will push into the North Charleston area through 9 PM. A
quick 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall could occur with this
activity. Emergency management officials report flood conditions have
improved greatly since earlier this evening. However, any additional
rainfall could result in renewed flash flooding.

KEY MESSAGE 1: Locally heavy rainfall is possible today with showers
and storms.

A large mid level trough, centered over the Great Lakes, will
dominate over the eastern CONUS today.. WPC surface analysis
from 15Z shows a weak front draped across the SC Midlands. This
front will be the main forcing behind showers and storms this
afternoon as it slowly moves towards the SC Lowcountry and SE
Georgia. While a strong storm cannot be ruled out, the main
hazard this afternoon will be heavy rainfall as PWATs are
analyzed around 1.9 to 2.0". The 12Z guidance depicts the bulk
of the precipitation developing around 22/23Z this evening,
generally along and east of I-95. The 12Z HREF shows
probabilities of 1 inch or greater east of I-95 around 50-70%.
Shower and storm activity is forecast to wind down by 9 PM.

Sunday Onward: The aforementioned upper trough will finally move
far enough east to usher in some drier air into the area by
Sunday into Monday. With drier air in place and the surface
boundary pushed offshore, rain chances should remain low through
Monday. However, moisture should begin to recover starting
Tuesday and into the middle of the week with a return to more
typical summertime pattern setting up.

A TEMPO group has been introduced at KCHS/KJZI/KSAV to reflect
the threat for TSRA this afternoon. Thereafter, prevailing VFR
through the remainder of the 18Z TAFs.

Today through Thursday: Marine conditions are expected to remain
below Small Craft Advisory criteria through the period. A fairly
typical summertime pattern on tap. Generally expect south to
southwest winds averaging in the 10-15 knot range with gusts to 20
kt at times and seas 2 to 3 feet. Any showers or thunderstorms that
move over the waters have the potential to bring higher wind gusts
and frequent lightning.

...MARINERS ON LAKE MOULTRIE AND EASTERN LAKE MARION SHOULD CONSIDER
SEEKING SAFE HARBOR...

Showers and thunderstorms will impact portions of Lake Moultrie and
eastern Lake Marion through late afternoon. Gusty winds, locally
heavy rainfall reducing visibility to 1 NM or less and cloud-to-water
lightning can be expected. Mariners are urged to seek safe harbor.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters on Lake Moultrie and the eastern portions of Lake Marion
should seek safe harbor immediately. If caught on the open water,
