- Dry with above normal temperatures over the weekend and into
  early next week.

  for the foothills eastward across all of the eastern Colorado
  plains.

  weather conditions for Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.

- Snow returns to the mountains Tuesday and continues into
  Wednesday.

Issued at 444 AM MST Sat Feb 14 2026

Dry air is rapidly moving in from the north at this time with
clearing skies from northwest to southeast. Looking at radar and
webcams, it appears snow has wrapped up in the mountains.
Therefore, have canceled the Winter Weather Advisory. Roads in the
mountains are slick in places and will improve with warming
temperatures and sunshine this morning.

Other update this morning was to issue a Fire Weather Watch for
northern Lincoln, eastern Elbert, Washington, Phillips, and
Sedgwick Counties where wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph will be
possible Sunday afternoon.

Looking ahead to Monday through Wednesday...latest model trends
for Monday favor weaker winds for most of the area with a surface
trough along I-25 and a low forming near/over the Palmer Divide.
If this prevails, the gustier south to southwest winds would be
limited to the far southeast part of the forecast area (Elbert,
Lincoln, and maybe Washington Counties). No changes to the Fire
Weather Watch at this time, but northern sections of the watch
could be trimmed off if the latest model trends continue. Tuesday
is still on track to be a high end fire weather day for the
eastern plains. The foothills and urban corridor likely ends up
very windy as well, but conditions are not favorable extreme winds
like we had in mid December. Wednesday likely ends up windy
again, but may be limited to southern parts of the forecast area
(along and south of I-70). This will be dependent on where the
next surface low forms, which is on track to be somewhere over
northeast Colorado.

.DISCUSSION /Through Friday/...

Radars and observations are indicating a few areas light rain
falling over the plains.  There is light snow falling over the
mountains according to cameras, radar and observations.
Temperatures are still in the 40s across the plains this evening,
with mainly 20s in the mountains and lower 30s in the Parks. The
High Resolution models have precipitation ending over the CWA from
northwest to southeast by 12-15Z Saturday morning.

Models are showing upper ridging to move back into the CWA Saturday
with moderate northwesterly flow aloft Saturday and Saturday night.
Zonal flow is progged on Sunday with the upper ridge axis pushing
eastward out of Colorado. The airmass looks dry across the forecast
area Saturday through Monday night, although there will be some
upper level cloudiness in place from time to time.

Temperatures continue to stay above seasonal normals Saturday
through Monday. Highs could warm to around 70 over the plains by
Monday.

For the later days, models still show very strong southwesterly flow
aloft Tuesday. Models have strong west-southwesterly flow aloft for
the CWA Wednesday through Friday, with a mean upper trough axis
staying west of Colorado all three days. Some pieces of energy move
across Colorado, but the entire trough itself doesn't really push
through the state until Saturday of next week. Also it weakens as it
moves eastward. This system has not had good timing consistence over
the last several model runs.

Moisture is limited mainly to the mountains through the period, with
no periods of deep moisture all four days. Scattered to likely light
snow is progged for the mountains all four days.  For the plains,
temperatures look to be above normal Tuesday, then cool a bit
Wednesday, with near normal readings Thursday and Friday (40s for
highs). The dry conditions will continue over the plains into
Wednesday, with low level downsloping. There could be some limited
pops Wednesday night into Thursday night over the plains, but
nothing significant. There will be fire weather concerns on Tuesday,
with the strong winds expected. Elevated fire weather conditions may
still be an issue the rest of the week even with the cooling
airmass.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS through 18Z Sunday/...

VFR conditions expected through the TAF period. This morning's
brief passing of pesky low CIG has pushed south of the TAF sites
with dry air filling in behind them. Winds are expected to be
light today under a building upper-level ridge. Current light and
variable winds should see a N to NE transition through the
afternoon, turning "around the clock" to end back at drainage
somewhere between 3-6Z tonight. Drainage winds to become light
and variable again late Monday morning. Low confidence in wind
direction at KBJC through the TAF period, with potential for winds
to turn to the NE this afternoon, or remain from the WSW to W
through the TAF period. Either scenario, winds are expected to
remain 10 kts or less.

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected over
the southeast plains on Monday, then over most of the eastern
plains Tuesday and Wednesday. Humidities will drop into the teens
for during the afternoon hours Sunday through Wednesday. Winds
are not very strong Sunday, but increase a bit over the eastern
plains on Monday. Tuesday's conditions look to be the most
critical with strong wind gusts up to 50 mph expected by
afternoon. Any fires that start that day would will spread
rapidly.

No hazardous weather expected. Roads will slippery in places from
last night's snowfall. If traveling to the mountains this
morning, use caution and give yourself extra time to reach your
destination.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Fire weather conditions will be a concern Sunday and through at
least Tuesday. Sunday and Monday will be warm and dry with pockets
of breezy winds leading to elevated to critical fire weather
conditions. Very windy conditions are expected to develop Tuesday.
These strong winds combined with continued dry conditions are
expected to produce widespread Red Flag conditions on Tuesday.
