A Slight Risk for severe thundrestorms (Level 2 of 5) is in place for storms beginning this morning and this afternoon and continuing through the evening and overnight periods. All severe threats, including wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour, hail of 1 inch in diameter, and tornadoes will be possible. A Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall (Level 2 of 4) is in effect for these storms as well. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall may track over the same area, leading to the potential for flash flooding. Most areas, over north central and northeastern South Dakota as well as western Minnesota are expected to see 1 to 2 inches of rain, with the heaviest being during the evening hours. Areas that see multiple rounds of storms may see as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain in total. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.
