 - Meteorological Overview:
Clearing skies overnight are allowing for a cool morning to
develop currently, with temperatures currently in the teens and
20s in many areas. Expect some warming later this afternoon.

For tonight, an upper level disturbance will pass through the Cut
Bank area, ahead of the main upper level disturbance on Saturday.
There is the potential for a short period of strong winds in the
Cut Bank area tonight, thus a high wind watch has been issued for
a few hours.

For Sat/Sun...The main upper level low/trof and a long duration
high wind event is looking likely across much of North Central and
MT and portions of SW MT. Expect winds to increase Saturday
morning and then become strong on Saturday afternoon. Warm
temperatures will develop as a result of the southwesterly wind
flow. Some locations over North Central MT will be near record
highs on Sat. Periods of strong winds are expected then to
continue Sat night and through Sun afternoon. Thus much of North
Central MT and portions of SW MT are no under a high wind watch
for Sat/Sun. It does turn cooler on Sunday, with some light precip
developing along the divide, especially over the Northern Rockies.

For next week...generally seasonable temperatures are expected all
week, along with short periods of passing showers and windier
conditions. It is possible additional high wind statements might
be needed next week for a few short periods, but at this time,
wind speeds do not look as strong as what we are expecting this
weekend.

 - Forecast Confidence & Scenarios:

Winds tonight -> There is a 70 percent chance of high winds in the
Cut Bank area tonight, thus the high wind watch. Should confidence
increase a bit, this could be changed to a high wind warning later
this morning or early this afternoon.

Winds Sat/Sun -> Several forecast models have mid level winds
between 70 and 95 mph just above the surface. What is so
interesting about this event is the duration. Many forecast models
show the potential for these strong winds to last almost 24 hours
aloft. Thus any periods of mixing, especially during daytime
heating, could result in the strong winds mixing down to the
surface. Most windier locations in the watch area have over an 80
percent chance of wind gusts over 58 mph, with an 80 percent
chance of 75 mph winds along the Rocky Mountain Front, per the NBM
5 model. (Much of the same area that was affected with high winds
this past Wed will likely be affected this weekend.) The standard
deviation for this wind event has increased to over 0.8, which is
starting to show the higher end wind potential. Thus the high
wind watch was expanded to much of North Central and portions of
