Issued at 946 AM MST Thu Dec 4 2025 Let the Dense Fog advisory expire at 9 AM. Patchy fog will continue to dissipate along the Arkansas River through Pueblo county, and there is some fog in the San Luis Valley evident in KALS airport webcam. This should be diminishing within the hour. Updated forecast to account for this through 10-11 AM, but due to limited coverage, any further extensions of advisories is not anticipated. -KT && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 215 AM MST Thu Dec 4 2025 Currently... Web cams and sfc observations were indicating areas of dense fog in El Paso county. Worst areas were generally along the Highway 24 corridor from KCOS northeastward towards Peyton. Clouds were also lowering in Monument per YMCA webcam and Monument hill/Black Forest area likely in dense fog. Snow showers at 2 am were still noted over the San Luis valley and were decreasing. Today... Precip over the southern parts of the fcst area will come to an end later towards sunrise. Areas of fog will likely continue into mid morning and with conditions gradually improving later in the morning. As for sensible weather later today, skies will clear and lots more sun today. However it will remain cool over the region. Areas with snow cover will not warm up so much and expect mainly 30s in snow covered areas. Farther east and south, temps should reach into the low 40s. Valleys should see highs around 30. A few snow showers may linger in the San Juans this afternoon. Tonight... Cold with mainly clear skies. Expect mainly teens most of plains with single digits mtns/valleys. Some snow showers possible central mtns towards sunrise. With the melting snow, some additional fog cant be ruled out over parts of the region towards sunrise tomorrow morning. && .LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 215 AM MST Thu Dec 4 2025 A couple of disturbances will move southeast in the northwest flow pattern aloft, and this will bring additional snow to the central mtns during the Friday/Saturday time frame. Best chance of wind driven snow will be overnite Friday into Saturday. A winter storm watch has been issued for this general time frame. Most of the snow will occur north of Cottonwood Pass. Thereafter, northwest flow will continue aloft, but heights will gradually rise and the gradient will slacken. This will allow for a gradual warming trend over the entire fcst area with mainly dry weather.
